Apollo Global Management, the $938 billion asset manager, has struck a deal to acquire up to 90 million MORPHO tokens over four years, representing 9% of the protocol's total supply. The partnership aims to bolster decentralized lending markets on Morpho, which currently ranks as the sixth-largest DeFi protocol with $5.8 billion in total value locked.

MORPHO's token price surged 17.8% following the announcement, climbing from $1.12 to $1.32. This MOVE continues Apollo's strategic push into crypto, following previous collaborations with Coinbase and investments in tokenization platform Plume.

The agreement underscores growing institutional interest in decentralized finance infrastructure. Morpho's lending protocol will gain access to Apollo's vast traditional finance expertise, potentially bridging gaps between legacy systems and blockchain-based solutions.
